The Rowan College of Performing Arts will feature story-telling, songs, dances and activities and games for children in the telling of the story inspired by the film based on the popular L. Frank Baum stories, where Dorothy and her dog Toto are caught in a tornado’s path and end up in the land of Oz. In Oz, she meets some memorable friends and foes in her journey to meet the Wizard of Oz who everyone says can help her return home and grant her new friends the things they desire most, a brain, a heart and courage.

the following is a breakdown of the chapters of the story that will be preformed two times each Thursday at 6:30 and 7:30 pm throughout summer fest:

June 6th

Chapter 1: : Life in Kansas. 

Meet Dorothy Gale who lives in on a farm in Kansas with her Aunt Em and her dog, Toto. A twister strikes, and Dorothy is transported to the magical land of Oz!

June 13th

Chapter 2: Welcome to Munchkinland! 

Dorothy and Toto land in Munchkinland where the Munchkins welcome them! Dorothy meets Glinda the Good Witch of the North and the Wicked Witch of the West.

June 20th

Chapter 3: Meet the Scarecrow and Tin Man!

Dorothy and Toto journey down the Yellow Brick Road and meet the Scarecrow, who wishes for a brain, and the Tin Man, who wishes for a heart. They join Dorothy on her quest to meet the wizard!

June 27th

Chapter 4: Meet the Cowardly Lion! 

Dorothy, Toto, the Scarecrow, and the Tin Man arrive in a spooky forest where they meet the Cowardly Lion. He joins them on their quest to meet the Wizard, but the Wicked Witch of the West casts a spell to stop our heroes!

July 11th

Chapter 5: Welcome To The Emerald City!

Dorothy, Toto, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Lion finally arrive in Emerald City to a magical welcome! Will they be able to see the Wizard?

July 18th

Chapter 6: Save Dorothy!

Dorothy has been captured by the Wicked Witch of the West! Can our friends save her in time?

Chapter 7: There’s No Place Like Home

We return to Oz to greet the Wizard and are met by a surprise! Will Dorothy and all our friends get the treasures they seek? Come to our final performance to find out!
